This has always been one of Torre’s faults – his “if they’re on the team, I’m going to use them” management style. That’s what got Jeff Weaver into a WS game in 2003 and that’s why we saw Felix Heredia so many times last year. I’m starting to miss the old days, where Billy would burry someone like Ken Holtzman and not care about his contract, etc.

That was painful to watch. I made it a little past 9PM but when it got to 10-4 that was good enough for me.

I keep hearing people say that we’re paying Brown and Giambi too much not to play them but I really don’t see the logic behind that. They’re HURTING the team. You have to pay Giambi whether he’s contending for the triple crown or spending 4 AB’s a game looking at pitches and cleaning the dirt in the batter’s bow.

You have to pay Brown whether or not he’s contending for the Cy or giving up 8 hits and 6 runs in the 1st inning to the DRays.

So why let them continue to hurt the team? You HAVE to pay them but you don’t have to let them keep hurting the organization.

This whole “they make too much to bench them” nonsense is stupid.
