Regardless of his hbps, he's drawn a lot of walks...which is probably why he's still on the team. It means he's still seeing the ball and controlling the plate. Batting average is somewhat important, but in the end JG needs to get his power stroke back, and keep drawing walks.

I'm rooting for him.

Giambi should just go to the minors and try to get his swing back. he's just hurting the team now. if he doesn't want to go the minors, then buy him out.

I'd be curious to see what Giambi's OBP was without the aid of HBP's.

You have to give Giambi 35 or so more at-bats against MLB pitching, it's the only way to see if he's lost it or not. He's been too good not to give him more at-bats to try to break out of it.

He's 3rd on the team and 34th in the AL in OBP. Even a non-sabermetrics person like Cashman knows the value of getting on base. If JG starts hitting again, (recall 10 days ago Tino was hitting .200) look out.

That being said, Giambi "made his own bed." I admire that he was honorable enough to admit more than Bonds, Sosa or McGwire. But if this is the end of his career, so be it.

Ugh. I'm not sure I can tolerate another 6 weeks of Giambi. He is severely overmatched but far less than mediocre pitchers.

Is this all due to the steroids? Or is it that and that he's on the decline? His performance is insanely bad.

Ditto on Justice. I didn't like him doing ESPN games last year. He seems better this year. FWIW, I like him better in the studio doing pre- and post-game analysis. He's a plus there.

totally unrelated to Giambi....but I have to give David Justice credit....he is a much better analyst than I expected. Not just for the Giambi comment because that was a no-brainer, but he was very good yesterday describing what hitters look for and what pitchers throw or don't throw.

Kudos David! I enjoyed your perspectives.

As for Giambi....I was really hoping he would pull through this year......its pretty sad, and if ever there was a case for steriods being "bad"...here you go.
