• Look, up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a frog!

    ...a frog?

Not bird, nor plane, nor even frog, it's just a little 'ole baseball blog!

I was looking at Giambi’s game logs this AM and noticed this:

When Giambi plays, the Yankees are 23-22.
When Giambi doesn’t play, the Yankees are 6-8.

When Giambi plays and gets a hit, the Yankees are 13-12.
When Giambi plays and goes hitless, the Yankees are 10-10.

Based on these splits, it appears that Jason Giambi has not helped or hurt the Yankees this season – so far.

I believe that is the case for many a player. IIRC, the M’s had the same record with Griffey that they had without him back in 1995 (he missed a couple of months with a wrist injury)

Thanks – that made me decide to look at another case: http://www.waswatching.com/archives/2005/06/bernies_impact.html
