The Wildcard Chase
As I look at the AL Wildcard standings this AM, and see the Yankees are just 4 back in that race, I want to say thank you to the Tigers, A’s, Cubs, Mariners, and Pirates. Why?
It’s because the Yankees, to date, are 19-2 this season when playing the Tigers, A’s, Cubs, Mariners, and Pirates. And, against the rest of the teams that they have played, New York is 19-35. (Yes, 19 and 35.)
Without the contributions from the Tigers, A’s, Cubs, Mariners, and Pirates, the Yankees season, right now, would be hopeless. As it stands now, however, there’s something to shoot for – as it is attainable.

The division race is over?
Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor??
If only the Yankees had an *Eat Me* mobile……
Man, that was one funny movie
June 24th 2005- to quote you Steve:
“Five games is a big lead. Plus, it’s 5 games and *two teams* ahead of them.”
This was in response to my argument that 5 games is nothing.
Now we are 4 games back and behind FOUR teams (Orioles, Twins, Indians and Texas)- and you are hopeful?
backtracking a bit are we? hmmmmmm?
Ok granted- the Indians don’t hold a candle to the Sox…but the O’s are still there and the Twins and Rangers are dangerous…so there are still two teams, maybe three ahead of us….
Just trying to find some silver lining at this point Phil……..even it it takes going against good logic
