There are reports that the Yankees have traded Paul Quantrill to the Padres for pitchers Darrell May and Tim Redding.

Why? This is like trading a rotten black banana for two oranges that have turned solid green with mold. Why not just throw out the banana and be done with it?

Unless, of course, it’s that Brown is still far away. And, maybe there’s another Yankees starter due to go on the DL, and they’re just desperate to pull in two guys who can toe the rubber – in order to avoid a forfeit?

Darrell May and Tim Redding. This is what it has come down to……heavens.

May might make a better LOOGY than Wayne Franklin. And Redding’s still relatively young (27) and had a fairly good season two years ago. And, the cash the Padres are including could pay for some employee dental plans…

So there’s some straws to grasp, though not very many.

Plus, perhaps, they were worried about Q landing somewhere in the AL East, and, perhaps, coming back to haunt them. So, this way, he’s as far from the AL East as possible.

Hey! Its two-for-one, how can ya beat that?!

As for Wayne Franklin, don’t let the door hit you on your way out…..

Darrell May could be valuable. I beleive he is very tough on Lefties.

“The Yankees sent newly acquired Red Sox assets Darrell May and Tim Redding to the minors.”

He toned himself down from when I first started reading his stuff, but every so often he comes up with a gem (:
