Bret Boone

From the Seattle Times:

While the Mariners are mum on all personnel matters, there are indications the club has been in discussions with several clubs about Bret Boone.

General manager Bill Bavasi declined yesterday to say even if there had been interest in the second baseman, but three clubs teams are thought to have inquired — San Diego, which previously had failed to settle a deal for Boone; the New York Yankees; and Boston. A dark horse could be the Chicago Cubs.

“The Yankees don’t have a specific need for Boone, except they sometimes make significant moves to change things around,” one scout said. “They’re doing OK right now, but overall they need someone to pick them up, and Boone could be that for them. He’s a pennant-race veteran.”

Is this another game of keep-away? Will they never learn?

Man, I do not want that bat-flipping jackass on our team.

    Cashman, stay the hell away.

These “trial balloons” and this rampant speculation is pissing me off:

    Get Kotsay or Randy Winn.
    Get Clemens.

    Let’s win the world series.

There’s absolutely no way…this has to be a diversion:
7 jacks, .299 OBP and .385 SLG this year.

What are the Yankees most realistic moves to make before the trade deadline? Center fielder?Starter?
    Reliever? Keep Crosby/Phillips/Wang/Cano/Sturze?
Dangle Posada/Womack.. Has Clemmons talked to Yanks? Is Jason Schmidt hurt? A.J. Burnett? Raid the Phillies like the 03 Cubs did the Pirates?Danys Baez? The Yanks schedule after the All-Star break is tough to say the least. Can this season be saved?

Hey, Joe Borowski was released. How about him? :-)

Seriously though, I’m not too keen on NL pitchers right now.

And you can’t dangle Posada because they have no other catchers. Wang, Cano and Sturtze are untouchable. I don’t think any other team has a use for Crosby or Phillips, it’s not like they’re prospects anymore. Wouldn’t mind seeing Phillips get another shot though. Stick him in LF and see how he does.

Would anyone trade Eric Duncan or Sean Henn for Eddie Guardado? I’m not talking about Cabrera or Hughes. Either Duncan or Henn to get a quality lefty for the pen.

Sure would be nice to have Navarro waiting in the wings now, wouldn’t it?

Everyday Eddie is on the down-side, no way do you deal a blue-chipper for him, IMHO. Andy Phillips, maybe, but, not a full blown prospect.
