There’s a story about me, and the book, in the current edition of the Middletown Independent.

People say that Doc should be in the HOF?

Jeez… Had he kept it up, maybe. The drugs wounded his chances of making it, and the injuries finished off his chances.

A shame, really. I’ll always remember the skinny 19 year old who was all arms legs and elbows. The kid with the hellacious fastball, and a curve so nasty, it was referred to as “Lord Charles” instead of “uncle charlie.”

Actually, that’s a funny story. Dan, the reporter, asked me about Gooden, and his HOF chances. I thought it was a side convo - not part of the interview. And, I said no way on the HOF. FWIW, that’s how it came up.
