<description>Joel, the other thing Kaat keeps repeating, I think, is even more to the point: Small does not routinely throw sliders in 2 strike counts. He challenges hitters with well-placed fastballs or bamboozles them with change-ups. No down and over the plate hanging 85 mph sliders when the batter HAS TO MAKE CONTACT. Small can throw strikes and challenge hitters with an 87 mph fastball. Yes, lock Proctor et al. in a room with a TV to watch Small&#039;s performance. Just keep Mel out of that room.

		<description>A very good win.

Scott Proctor (and all the minor league pitchers for that matter) should be locked in a room and forced to watch Small&#039;s performance again and again and again.

Good things happen when you throw strikes and challenge guys to hit you--even when you have mediocre stuff. As Jim Kaat has said on more than one occassion, even in batting practice guys make out after out on fastballs grooved for them.

<description>They can thank Cano, Sheff, and Small for the &quot;W&quot; today.

I never saw this effort coming from Small.

I was pretty close on the runs for the Yankees: guessed 4/5 and it was actually six. But, I never saw Small going seven.

I figured 5 from him, giving up a couple, maybe three, and then the middle pen being good for their usual 2 to 3 allowed.

By Small going long enough to get to Gordon and Mo, he saved the game, IMHO.

I&#039;ll take the win. This was a nice one to get.
