El Duque And Contreras
From the Northwest Herald:
Orlando “El Duque” Hernandez and Jose Contreras will pitch the first two games of the Sox’s three-game series with the Yankees, marking the first time the two right-handers will face New York in Yankee Stadium since they were cast off by the organization.
Neither seemed fazed by a return trip to New York.
“Just another game,” Contreras said, while Hernandez politely declined to talk much about New York.
Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, though, said there has to be extra motivation for the pair this week.
“They will want to [make the Yankees wonder] why did they trade me or not sign me – especially Duque.” Guillen said. “It will be a special day for him. I know the fans love him and Duque [made] a mark with that uniform. He won a lot of big games for them. I expect them to be pumped up. I expect them to win and pitch good against them.”
The fans should give El Duque a polite hand upon his taking the mound – but, nothing thereafter. He was a big part of the 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2004 teams.
As far as Contreras, they should get on him like he was Pedro Martinez. Boo the living fecal matter out of him. He’ll rattle like a rusted muffler – just watch.

Steve, I bet Contreras does get the fecal matter booed out of him. With his performance in pinstripes, he probably deserves it.
Of course, sometimes I wonder if Mel wasn’t the worst possible pitching coach for a guy like Contreras . . . and how much one can blame him for Contreras’s failures.
FWIW, he’s not starring with the White Sox this season.
Well, Did you guys, run out of gas to keep talking bla bla and more bla about them or maybe YOU JUST WANT THEM BACK?
