11:16 am EST: Freddy Garcia has been a much better pitcher on the road this year (2.81 ERA on the road vs. 5.01 at home) to date.
But, he’s been rocked since July 1st – with an ERA over 5 since that date. Also, lefties seem to do OK against him – much better than RH batters.
I’m calling for another gift from Young Kitty and a Yankees win today, say, by the score of 6-4.

It’s the kind of wacky match-up the Yankees have excelled in winning this season. Hope you’re right, Steve. Still can’t get over the cover Torre has in the media. I don’t really get it.

That bottom of the 4th is looking bigger and bigger. Guy comes into this game, pitching to an ERA of 5+ for over a month, and they Yankees get 7 BR in 8 IP off him – and no earned runs. Ugh.

Not that I’m sitting here with the gameday window open at work, but I couldn’t help noticing (by ESP, of course) “Offensive Substitution: Pinch runner Bubba Crosby replaces Tino Martinez.” Does it seem like every time they pinch run Bubba he gets picked off or gets real close to getting picked off? Oops – there goes Jeter. Down to Cano.

this was the best pitching i have seen from the yankees in 2 years and we lost the series because our zillion dollar offense and our 10 cent defense (say good bye bernie and jorge) are gutless, posada is useless behind the plate now because he cant hit and hes afraid to block the plate like a real catcher, which is why we lost!
heartbreaking to see mo take the loss with the way he pitched today, kudos to boston for officially ending the yankees dominance in the american league

No, Steve, he never came close to catching it. He’s got the range of a postage stamp now, coupled with the arm of a gnat. Give Kaat his props, he said weeks back that pitching was not the biggest concern for the team, it was CF defense. The man knows his stuff. Now, if he’d get rid of those suspenders…

steve: lets put it this way a good center fielder would have caught it, a mediocre center fielder would have made a good relay throw and held uribe to a double and bernie williams could not only not get to the ball but throw the WORST most non chalant throw to the cutoff man i have ever seen, its very very very sad and even jim kaat asked why bernie was in the outfield and not crosby at that point in the game.

BTW…… John Sterling is unlistenable to. We must write WCBS and the Yankees to can this disaster of a radio crew after this season. Russo on WFAN has been replaying stupid Sterling mistakes that now up numerous daily faux pas.

I think now is the time to switch Cano and Giambi in the batting order. There ain’t nothing but a black hole behind Jason right now. I would’ve rather taken my chances with Flaherty hitting in the 7th than Posada. Jorge used to be able to take a walk here and there. Now he’s hacking away at the first pitch.
