Jason O. - We have to set the tone that balls in play are not to be messed with... (:< And I say that knowing that it would've been at least a 2b for Perez. But I tire of people interfereing with balls put in play. You'd think they'd know better. If it means that much to them, I'll head over to Frank's and pick up a baseball for them. (:

Don - I was at that game, and was wondering "WTF?"

Shot, Raf? Isn't that a bit harsh?

Flogged with canes by sadistic Roman soldiers Mel Gibson style, perhaps, but not shot.

The general theme of the previous comments are right on: The offense should have ended the game in the 2nd inning, and Proctor should not have issued an IBB.

By this Sunday, the Yankees will have either gained or lost at least 2 games in the AL East.

**Huff's been there, he's done it before. How many rings have you got, buddy, huh?**

Can we stop with the ring talk? Paul O'Neill has more rings than Willie Mays, Dave Winfield & Hank Aaron combined. Luis Sojo has more rings than Ernie Banks. Doesn't mean he's a better player.

It was a terrible game played all around. No way that game should've been that close when Mo came in.

Perez did a hell of a job. Gotta give him credit.

BTW, anyone who interferes with a ball in play should be shot.

Baseball 101: You do NOT walk the bases loaded with a pitcher who has anything less than pinpoint control.

First of all, an already rattled Proctor needed to stay in rhythm--and the intentional walk took him out of it.

Secondly, what kind of lefty-righty tradeoff are you making? Johnny Gomes is a very dangerous hitter, with a .373 OBP, who was on base 4 times the previous night.

No second-guessing here. In my house, we were screaming at the TV set the second Joe put up four fingers. That was truly an awful piece of managing last night.

When Mo got the Rays out in the bottom of the 10th, the Yankees brought Womack, Flaherty, and Crosby up to the plate for the bottom of the 10th. Is this what $200 million gets you? As per Mike's Baseball Rants, this might be the worst three players to hit consecutively in the last century.

Right.... Joe & Mel made RJ groove a pitch, yeah, that's it. We can't blame the pitcher, a very veteran pitcher for that, now can we?

As for MO, it has been a horrible six days or so. Two blown saves and a loss in a tie game. But that's what you get when an aging closer is overused, just what many allegedly knowledgeable Yankee fans were screaming for a week and-a-half ago, why didn't they use MO that is. Duh!

That's right folks, every loss is Joe Torre's fault, along with his sidekick Mel.

Because of the turf, I guess. Hard on the knees. Plus, we needed to save Giambi for the 17th inning tonight.

Just asking: why is Torre "resting" his guys in this 3 game series with Tampa (in a domed stadium) and an off-day on Thursday when there were no off-days last week in New York and it was consistently 95 degrees and Giambi, Sheff, Jeter, ARod, and Cano played every damn game? Just asking.
