The Yankees are now 14-7 since 10 days after Joe Kerrigan was hired as a consultant. (Why do I think my High School English teacher would have an issue with that sentence?)

And, 3 of those 7 losses have been by one run – and were clearly games that the Yankees coulda/shoulda won.

Cowinky-dink? I doubt the Merovingian would buy that.

    Yeah, I know, small-sample-size yadda-yadda.

I’d like to believe you’re right about that, Steve, but there’s no way of knowing really. Has Kerrigan improved the advance scouting (I understand he does this without traveling by watching satellite TV endlessly…wow, a great job!)? Has Kerrigan imparted some bons mots to the Yankee pitching staff? That’s a stretch since you’d have to travel with the team to do that. Or has he merely served to “focus” Stottlemyre’s efforts with his “grey eminence” status? Do I see his hand in the decision NOT to bring Nomo up? After all, in most alternate Yankee realities, Nomo comes up immediately and fouls the air with his 7+ ERA. But not in the one we’re living in or believe we’re living in. Gotta be more than just a random event.

Of course, there’s no way we can know. I was just wondering out loud.

Kerrigan’s not going to help too much unless he can give 7+ innings every fifth day.

      and how about:
“The Yankees are now 14-7 in the 10 days after they hired Joe Kerrigan as a consultant.”
No, I was never a high school English teacher.

How about Gene ‘Stick’ Michael, resurgent, being the measuring point….
