I always root agst the Redskins – I simply despise them (this mostly has to do with living in D.C.)However, it’s better that the Cowboys lost. I’d rather have them at 1-1 and the Skins at 2-0. The Skins will lose plenty of games this year. The ‘boys are more of a threat.

As for the Yanks, none of these odds mean a thing at this point. All that matters is that we keep winning.

So, I asked the guys at coolstandings.com about this – and this is what they said:

Actually, we are already implementing such an algorithm for football, and will soon bring it into the baseball simulation. Instead of a fixed date (such as 7/1), though, we are using the stats for the whole season but applying more weight to the recent results. This way Cleveland’s performance in the last month would be taken into account more than their first half performance (along with that of the White Sox!).

We’re hoping to have this feature incorporated into the baseball simulations some time this week (but no guarantees!).

Who do you root for in an early season Redskin-Cowboys game? Late in the year, sure, root against whoever’s ahead of the Giants, but at the moment the only thing I can think of is for a cloud of locusts to strip both teams bare.

There were three great HR’s last night.

First, the Bubba Crosby shot.

Then Brunell to Moss twice.

I’d like to see those odds calculated using the team’s W% since 7/1 as opposed to the whole season. That could be the difference.

FWIW, the Postseason Odds report over at Prospectus has the Yanks’ odds of winning the division higher than it has been at any point this season.

Counterbalance – Red Sox have better odds than we do, unforunately.

I’m not sure how much faith I have in it, because it still has the White Sox’s odds of winning the AL Central greater than Cleveland’s.

I’m sure the methodology is beyond sound, but I just don’t see the Sox (of either color) holding on to their respective leads.

It goes without saying, but I’ll be happier with another win tonight.

If not for the awful White Sox and the Cowboys collapse agst the hated Redskins it would have been a perfect evening. BTW, when I saw Walter Young I thought I was still watching the Giants game. I think the Jints should sign him up for the D-line.
