Julian Tavarez

From a story in the Post about the current Yankees organizational meetings:

Items on the table include where to find a center fielder (Torii Hunter, Milton Bradley) and bullpen help (B.J. Ryan, Julian Tavarez). For the first time in eons, the Yankees aren’t expected to chase starting pitching in the free-agent pool.

Tavarez? Are they kidding me? The Pine Tar and Tantrum boy?

Pass. Pass at 118 MPH.

Yeah, they should’ve passed on Lou Pinella & Paul O’Neill…

I thought we wanted players with “fire” and “intensity?”

OK, then just pass on him because of his K/IP and K/BB rates.

I don’t understand your point? What are you saying? Be explicit? No guts, no glory?

    Eh?

Not sure what you’re getting at, but my point is to judge a player by what he does on the field.

With the numbers Manny Ramirez puts up, he can do the cabbage patch around the bases, for all I care.

Eck can point and fist pump as long as he’s getting batters out.
