New Stadium Plans Snafu du Jour

At some point, I sorta wish they would just say screw it and move to New Jersey and built it on a swamp somewhere. I’d almost rather see that than have to listen to all the pols and the wannabes grandstanding on everything.
But, it will never happen. Big Stein doesn’t want that on his tombstone – that he moved the Yankees out of New York. He knows what happened to Walter O’Malley’s legacy.

The circumstances were a bit different between O’Malley & Steinbrenner.
Moving a team across the river is a bit different than moving them across the country.
Besides, precedent has been set with the Giants and Jets.
Yeah, but, the Jints and Jets didn’t move from “hallowed ground”!
It’ll get done, Steve. Just some of the right palms have to be greased, if you know what I mean. Lucky for the Mets, the only people they have to worry about displacing or displeasing in the area of Shea are some long-in-the-tooth auto shop owners and their flea-bitten junkyard dogs.
Some of the left palms too, I would imagine.

YS & TPG don’t count?
Seriously, the Yanks are moving across the street from “hallowed grounds,” and it can be reasonably argued that YS ceased to be “hallowed grounds” after the renovations of 1974-45.
