Tony Womack’s hit in the 9th inning of Game 7 of the 2001 World Series.
Shawn Wooten’s two big hits in the 5th inning of Game 4 of the 2002 ALDS.
Alex Gonzalez’ HR in the bottom of the 12th of Game 4 of the 2003 World Series.
Dave Roberts steal in the 9th inning of Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS.
Orlando Cabrera’s 2-out 7th inning hit in Game 2 of the 2005 ALDS.
Bugs can bug ya, huh?

It kinda bugs me, then I just think about the HR Aaron Boone hit, or Bucky’s long ball, or Luis Sojo’s single in the 2001 series, or the Tino-Brosius HRs in 2001, or Jeffrey Maier, or…
Fair point.
I just noticed that 4 of those 5 ‘bugs’ have played for the Red Sox at one time or another in their careers. Coincidence?
It also begs the question – when will Tony Womack get his chance? =)
In an unreleated item, Sheffield has been implicated in the Bonds book as having injected himself with steroids. I have to believe that this won’t be as big as Bonds, but will still be a pretty substantial issue. The last thing we needed.

Wow. Good find!

He almost did, in 2004. He was traded to the Cards before ever playing a game in Boston.
