I see that Ron Blomberg has a new book out.
I wonder how different life would be for Ronnie if Luis Tiant did not have some early game wildness back in 1973?
Baseball, quite often, is like real estate – it’s all about location.
In any event, the Blomberg story is an interesting one – as he could hit, without question. It’s a shame that he could not stay healthy.

Houk never allowed Blomberg to learn to hit lefties, inflicting a strict platoon on the guy from Day One (even in the minors his ABs against lefties were limited). I’m old enough to recall Blomberg had one of the quickest swings I’ve ever seen on a lefty batter…ever.
“Designated Hebrew” – very nice. From reading the description one would think Ron was a regular Rav Moshe Feinstein. I don’t recall seeing Ron in shul too often. I guess eating corn beef now qualifies as a religious experience.

Eating a properly prepared corned beef sammich, is quite the heavenly experience
FWIW, I remember Bloomberg using the Jewish angle before publishing this book…
Damn Sox picked up Choi, could be a great pickup for them.
