Well, it's amazing how much bigger ballplayers get after being in the league a few years. (Even the clean ones.) Bernie and Jeter are two good examples. Jeter, before he got to the show, looked like a stick figure with a big, round balloon head. It took him a few years to really fill out. Same for Berie.

I'm not really sure why the YES people put that video of Giambi on. We all know that Giambi did 'roids, so obviously the first thought upon seeing it was: wow, look at how thin Giambi was pre-'roids. Great going, YES. The truth is, even without 'roids, Giambi would be much bigger than that rookie. The steroids helped, no doubt, but it was just a stupid play by the YES guys.

I'm sorry, but, when a guy adds 50 lbs (thereabouts) from the time he is 24 until he is 28, and it's not all goo, that's stark.
==========================

50? That estimate seems to be a bit high.

Are you referring to 1995-99, or 1995-2006? Either way, it is not uncommon for a player to gain weight, fill out, or whatever as they get older.

Even when he showed up to camp "smaller" last year, he was still bigger than he was back in 1995.

But, when you compare Giambi from 1995 to now, wow, it really is not the same guy. Better living through chemistry, huh?
======================

hah. You should check out the difference in Danny Tartabull as a Mariner in Rocket's 20k game, and Tartabull the Yankee. Or Cecil Fielder when he first came back from Japan and Fielder on his way out of the league. Or even Big Rube.

Hard to believe that at one time he played 3b. Same with McGwire (who was then known as "Son of Kong"... lol)
