I firmly agree, Ortiz thinks he’s the king of baseball right now and he needs to be brought down a peg or 2 or 10. Let Farnsworth plant one between the numbers on Ortiz’s back (if you hit him in the ribs, he’s got enough “cushioning” to absorb the impact) to back him off the plate.

Crosby seems to be catching a lot of flak from last night in other places–people saying he has no business starting against the Red Sox or even being on the roster. Did they miss the catch he made in the first that would’ve probably led to a minimum of 3 runs had Bernie or Sheffield been out there? He seems like the last guy that should be catching hell right now.

Must have been a different Farnsworth who pitched back to back games against the DRays last week. Maybe his long lost twin brother. Maybe he snuck in there when Torre’s back was turned. Maybe Torre’s full of you know what.

Probably because he threw close to 2 innings yesterday. The Farns is apparently unable to pitch on back to back days.

this evening is the clinching evidence that there is a greater probability of someone confusing Kevin Youkilis for Angelina Jolie than there is a chance for any Yankees pitcher to make David Ortiz move his feet while standing in the batter’s box.

Ok, keeping Sturtze on this team is not HORRIBLE (his ERA for the worest guy in the pen is fine), but using him in key situation IS. come on he has proven it so many times recently even if you don’t belive in stats. at least take some obvious notes.. like Proctor performing worest with man on situation (which is kinda evident today.. he comes on after the bases cleared and pitched solid)

I think Wang is doing alright dispite another not so great outting, he seems to be having more trouble with the cold weather than anything else. I’m not sure why the managers havn’t cought on to the obvious observation that he isn’t doing many of the hand warming moves other pitchers do on such nights.

BTW, it’s good to see that we’re giving the proper respect to a veteran player who’s brought us fans so many thrills and great championship moments. Okay, so he’s a little less than what he was in his prime. But who can forget what he contributed to Yankee lore? Not I, my friend. And not Joe Torre. I’m glad he’s still got some trust in the old campaigner. He’ll be damned if he doesn’t get the last drop of greatness from him. And he will. Just be patient. After all, we owe it to him for all he’s done. There’ll be a plaque for him someday soon in centerfield. We’ll all nod, even shed a tear when we walk by it. There, in bold relief, etched in bronze, the name that echoes down all these recent great Yankees seasons…Tanyon Sturtze.
