And IMHO, it is one of the reason why this year's Yankee feels a lot more "right" ... they have several key youngesters in key spots and/or comming up huge for them ... it hasn't happened in the Bronx in a while to have so many young players that are from good to great and helping the team and obviously not on a trade display .. and I think we can all remember the last time the Yankees felt like that with certain guys like Jeter/ Posada / Mo / Pettiett what happend next ;)

He sure as hell was acting like an ace. I don't think Schilling pitched too poorly. He had pretty good stuff and made some bad pitches. As much as I despise the guy, at this point, I wouldn't even compare his situation with RJ's. Unit is either completely psyched out or injured (even though, apparently, his MRI came back negative). Each of those possibilities presents itself with huge long-term implications for the Yanks pitching staff.

I don’t think Schilling pitched too poorly. He had pretty good stuff and made some bad pitches. As much as I despise the guy, at this point, I wouldn’t even compare his situation with RJ’s.

Unit is either completely psyched out or injured (even though, apparently, his MRI came back negative). Each of those possibilities presents itself with huge long-term implications for the Yanks pitching staff.

No more nonsense about Randy Johnson being our ace or that we don't have an ace. Mike Mussina is the ace of the Yankees' pitching staff. He gave up a couple of home runs to start the game, but the important thing is that the offense gave him back the lead and he never let it go. That's important. Proctor has secured his spot on this team. I'll admit I was one of the people who was down on him early in the year, but he is a different pitcher. Keeping Sturtze over this guy is a crime. They cannot send him down. He got away with a terrible pitch tonight, but results are results and until he shows otherwise, he's a different pitcher. When Dotel gets back, the back end of the bullpen is Proctor, Dotel, Farns and Mo. Sounds good to me. Maybe I just like youth on the team, but I'm digging Melky. I hope this kid sticks around. That walk he worked from Schilling was a thing of beauty.
