For the love of everything holy, please don’t compare the loss of Sheffield and Matsui to Bubba friggin’ Crosby. His loss means nothing but that the Yankees should do what they should have already done: brought up Kevin Thompson from AAA and play him every day. Bubba should never have been on this team to begin with. I hope Thompson’s pouting in AAA doesn’t make they choose Long over him. Thompson is not a star, and he won’t take over for Matsui any better than Bubba, but he’s a better hitter than Bubba and he has just as much speed. I hope they give Thompson at least a week or two to prove himself before they bring in Long.

I’d take Womack. He’s smaller and easier to lock into the trunk of a car.

Quick, Steve, who would you rather: Terry Long or Womack? On the one hand, Long is a proven veteran with playoff “intangibles.” On the other, Womack is the prototypical “energy guy.” Love ‘em both but can only have one – which one will it be?
