"Melky's 11-pitch at-bat, which looked like it sucked Wagner dry"

That was the game for me - down 0-2, keeps fouling them off, works a walk. Melky has shown this - he can work a pitcher. If his defense was better, I would have no problem with him playing LF, when Sheff is back, batting 9th, and getting pitchers tired for the top of the order.

But, without power, taking pitches alone will not make up for his lack of defense - and grant FT playing status, at least to me.

Best part of the day: the comeback, of course, but especially Melky's 11-pitch at-bat, which looked like it sucked Wagner dry.

The worst part of the day: listening to Joe Buck beat the Yankees like they were a whore who stole his wallet. I know everyone thinks the national broadcasters hate their team, but Joe Buck is so obvious about it. He wouldn't stop trashing the Yankees (with loads and loads of misinformation) and kissing the ass of the Mets. "Oh, this Mets lineup never stops -- Beltran, Delgado, Wright!" But Damon, Jeter, Giambi, A-Rod and Cano aren't worth a mention. Also they seem to think the Mets are loaded with minor-league talent while the Yankees have nothing. I guess no one told Joe Fuck-ing Asshole that the Mets traded away all their young talent to get the players he sees on the field today. (If Cashman did that, he would be strung up.) And their prized pitching prospect, Mike Pelfrey, couldn't get out of the first inning of his last start in AA. Hughes is in the same league and doing better at two years younger. Pelfrey is so overrated it's ridiculous.

Thanks Ally. She's BR/TL - so, she would be limited to the OF and 1B - but, after seeing what the Yankees have in the OF now, well, she might help.

Cairo and Phillips?!! This is why I love this game. I hope it boosts their confidence for their next time out. Or maybe they can give that mojo to the rest of the bench, or I guess now, starters. Congrats on your daughter. One more practice and the Yankees could call her up!
