Rob Neyer had an interesting idea about Torre and his bullpen management (and I HATE Joe Torre), but he said something along the lines of “Torre realizes that relievers are pretty much interchangable, so why shouldn’t he run them into the ground?”

Don’t forget Mo pitching 61 times for 107 2/3 in 1996. Although that one worked out OK. But even then, he was in a different league.

I think nomaas said it best: “Yankees to have off-day, Proctor will pitch anyway.”

I know some fans think the guy is a joke, but I kind of think he’d be pretty good if he was used a little less frequently. And even when he isn’t used in the game he seems to warm up anyway, like tonight.

And then you’ve got Mo pitching the other night up 5 when a few days before he was unavailable when Wang had to attempt to go all 9. Just bizarre. I kind of think the bullpen has all the pieces now (Beam, Mo, Farnsworth, Smith, Myers, Proctor, Villone), they just have to be used correctly.

I was thinking the same thing, after this game I was like … OMG Cano walked twice and Proctor didn’t get in the game, no wonder it’s raining tonight.
