Forgot to mention, I just read the paper and saw Hughes' stats from last night. I don't want to get my hopes up but JEEZ, do I hope for the best for him. I'd love it if he was a part of the rotation come July 2007.

Bailey, I don't normally have such a short fuse when watching the games but for whatever reason I was just annoyed by Bernie misplaying that ball on a night where I knew we should win (3 errors in the previous half-inning). Plus, does anyone REALLY need an excuse to go down to the local tavern on a Friday night for a beer? :-)

Steve, your most bizarre write-up ever.

MJ, if THIS makes you leave the house and get a beer, how do you watch ninety-five percent of the games?

Wang normally has one bad inning a game. In his last start, it was his last. Luckily this time around it was a small blip in the second.

Farnsworth continues to frustrate. I think he threw three straight sliders to Cabrera. The slider is a good weapon -- but only if it complements the fastball. He did get out of the inning without giving up the lead, so I guess there was something good (the one thing about Farnsworth is that he can correct mistakes with strikeouts).

Tomorrow is a big game for Chac. Wright can at least say he's giving them five GOOD innings. Chacon is giving them five LOUSY innings. I think Chacon is better in the clubhouse and more valuable than Wright, but if he doesn't pitch well tomorrow, I think his place in the rotation is going to be taken by someone else.

The best news of the night is that my boy, Yankee fans' favorite son and god, Phillip Hughes, continues to dominate in AA. He had a no-hitter going through seven. After having a no-hitter going through six in his last start. He ended up giving up a hit in the eighth and had this line for the night: 8 IP, 1 hit, 2 BB, 10 SO. In his last two starts he's put up 15 IP, 2 hits, 22 SO. He kind of makes you drool, doesn't he?

For pure comic relief, there was nothing better than Kay's hilarious call on a Posada flyball. "A DEEEEEEEEEEP drive to center... GOING BACK -- !" And it didn't even reach the warning track. He's such a bagadonuts.

Agreed that the RF needs to make that catch. Wang pitched better than his runs allowed tonight - with that play being part of the reason.

I admit that I tuned out after watching Bernie misplay that ball off the wall (catchable, I thought). When Wang gave up the 2-run shot on the next pitch, I had enough and went out for a beer with dinner. Came home and saw they won. Considering how bad my mood was after a couple of batters in the top of the 2nd, I'll take the win...
