Yu, agreed.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>*<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Matsui says he'll be back in mid-August and it does look likely.

Will the Yankees get their future catcher? We should know this weekend.

Proctor hasn't pitched in 3 days actually, the off day, Wang's start, and yesterday's double header, it just feels more cause

A. it's everyday Proctor

B. the doule header and off day

I'm not overly worried bout Proctor. his velocity was great and he was hitting good spots today, just a bad pitch that got away really.

As for the offense, it has been that way for some time now, which have been the main problem, the Yanks are putting a ton of guys on but not getting them back.... hopefully that will improve .. sadly one of the main culprit of the problem was actually Robbie Cano, who managed to be one of the hottest Yankee in June but only batted in 7 runs.

Well, Proctor hasn't pitched in a few days (I think 5?)

I had no problem with him being in the game in the first place...my problem was when he started the 9th inning. If Rivera was going to warm to clean up a mess anyway, then Beam or Smith could have pitched it.

It's a long season. You may be right about the Yanks' demeanor tonight, but these NL bottom-feeders aren't exactly teams that are easy to get fired up about.

And I've actually noticed this particular team to be more cohesive and mirthful than in the recent past. Cano's smile, Johnny's hustle, Jeter's jokes, and Melky/Phillips' youth seem to be bolstering the morale a bit, IMO.

My only complaint is the Proctor situation, where there are other guys in the bullpen that haven't seen the pitcher's mound in practically a week.

nah...no smiling faces because they have to pretend they aren't all thinking about Derek Jeter's Birthday Bash.

What's with the negativity, dude? On a day where the Red Sox came back and won AGAIN -- Papi, of course -- the Yankees had a fairly easy win over a decent pitcher. Johnson looked good, and his slider had bite, but he missed location A LOT. In the later innings he was missing by a foot. He had command of his fastball, but his slider, though occasionally devastating, would sail wide.

If you didn't see many smiling faces, I would think it's because it's humid out and that game felt like it went on forever. Hudson pitched two very long innings to start the game and the game never had much momentum. I think everyone was hot and tired -- and a little angry that Mo had to come in. Note to Proctor: you let a man on in the ninth, there's a five-run lead, please don't throw that disgustingly hittable curveball to Chipper Jones. Christ. He might as well have set it on a tee. He had a good fastball tonight. Throw it.

Bobby Cox did look old and trollish. Are his legs two feet long? He looks like he's getting sucked down into the ground by a gravitational force.

I think I understand why the Braves are struggling this year: their players are losers. Only losers, when they're getting dominated by a pitcher, start to bitch and moan about the strikezone and use the ump as an excuse for the loss. From about the sixth inning the Braves' players started giving it to the home ump, as if it was his fault they couldn't hit Johnson.

I really hope they don't have to DL Cano. Cairo is a miserable hitter. And for the love of God, does Torre have to bat him second? Is that really necessary? He grounded out with men on twice.
