Yu, I was thinking the same thing regarding the rookie pitcher thing. But I noticed that the Yanks faced Marcum in a relief appearance in April and they lit him up for 3 runs on 4 hits. (side note: he was pitching when Sheff got hurt on that play at first)

Since Shaun Marcum is a rookie we never faced and isn't Cuban, chances are he will pitch lights out against us.. now we can only hope that.

a. Sir Sidney continue to throw well

b. Marcum doesn't last long enough so the Jays need to use their middle relieve...

Wang stuff was icky today, but really he could have allowed less run if Green and Cairo made a few more plays that were certainly within the realm of possibilty...

Every time I think a game is going to be a slugfest based on the match up, it ends up being a 2-1 pitchers' duel.

So, that's what I'm calling. Actually make that 3-2 Yanks.

Are you seriously going to keep going with the Mmmmmm, Mmmmmm thing for the rest of the year?

Wang didn't have his best stuff today, but when your stuff is normally great, a reduction of it is still good enough to get people out. You knew he wasn't himself when the readings on his fastball were low 90s. He's been consistently around 95-96 all year.

The best part of the night was watching Proctor and Farnsworth come in throwing heat. Proctor has looked very confident lately and Farnsworth's fastball is just ridiculous. (MJ, I hope those three strikeouts help build a little faith in you for Farns). I still contend that Farns was hurt most of the year and that his back is now better. I was always a little jealous of teams that could bring in young guys who threw 100 miles an hour. Now we have our own. I know velocity isn't all that important and that big leaguers can turn around any fastball, but you can't tell me it's not a little thrilling to see a guy throw 101.

As for A-Rod... well, at least it didn't cost us the game. I don't think A-Rod is "lost," per se, though I do think part of this is mental. But the larger problem is his swing. It's too long. Everyone in the league knows how to pitch him now and he's going to have to adjust. If he doesn't, you'll see more of this.

Manny struck out three times tonight, too. Something tells me that ESPN won't make as big a deal of it.
