If you asked me, now, to tell you the Yankees line-up for the first game in the new Stadium, I would suggest that it will look like this:
1. Brett Gardner CF
2. Derek Jeter SS
3. Johnny Damon 1B
4. Alex Rodriguez DH
5. Melky Cabrera RF
6. Hideki Matusi LF
7. Robinson Cano 2B
8. Hank Blalock 3B
9. Johnny Estrada C
And, if it’s not those two players at 3B and C, it will be two players like them.
That’s not the worst line-up in the world, is it?

Not bad. But what would the rotation be? It’s looking like Karstens will go for Mussina tonight against the Mariners.
That’s a good lineup. If I was to make a guess, I’d say:
Damon, LF
Jeter, SS
Cano, 2B
A-Rod, 3B
Matsui, DH
Melky, RF
Eric Duncan, 1B
Brian Schneider, C
Gardner, CF
That’s a nice L-R-L-R-L… mix. You could certainly so worse. They should let Mo start the game just so he could throw the first official pitch in the joint (is there really a more worthy guy?).
That one’s not bad either Mike.
Jose Tabata should be just about ready then, too — he could be eased in that season. Wang and Hughes are a start for the rotation.
Jeter’s range at SS at age 35 frightens me.
No, there isn’t a more worthy guy and nobody is even close, Mike.
Although, Scott Proctor is projecting to pitch 2916 innings between 2007 and 2008, so he could catch up to Mo.
good question.
CF, Melky S

SS, Jeter R
2B, Cano L
3B, Arod R
1B, Helton L
RF, Tabata R
DH, Matsui L

Rotation

Why the hell is Johnny Damon batting third?
Rodriguez at DH? Are you retarded?
