Exactly baileywalk, no one in the media will even suggest steroids for Papi or Tom Brady or Manny Ramirez or Curt Schilling for being able to go out with an experimental surgery in game 6 in 2004. Theyll somehow manage to get Clemens into the picture, but not anyone from any boston/new england team.

Barry Bonds' head is so big.....hmmm, Mr Steroids himself Ortiz' head is bigger. Its clear Giambi is no longer on steroids as his grand slam against Papelbon got shut down by the wind. Another B12 shot and it wouldve gone the way Ortiz' just monstered itself through the wind earlier in that game

People always say that Papi really wasn't a platoon guy, the Twins used him wrong, etc., and maybe the numbers can be presented to show this, but here's the bottom line for me: no one knew who the hell David Ortiz was before he came to Boston.
================
That's what happens when you don't play in a major media market.

The Twins hang onto good players because of their budget, and they got rid of him. After being cut, and not getting picked up for a while, he ends up on the Sox and becomes probably the best left-handed hitter in the league. Even if he was improving as a Twin, he became an absolute monster. Maybe he really did learn how to hit by watching other lefties like Paul O'Neill. Or maybe he took steroids.

My point is that no one in the media is even suggesting steroids, when heart ailments are notorious among 'roid users. If it was anyone else, you'd hear the word "steroids." But not with him.

And while too much coffee, stress and booze can cause his heart irregularity, something tells me too much HGH probably can, too.

Baileywalk, i thought nobody would ever agree with me which is why i never bothered to mention on this site that Ortiz is on steroids. Everybody i ever tell that just responds that Papi is just fat. This guy was merely a platoon player w/ MIN. He couldnt even get in the lineup more often than not.

Anyone else find it interesting that a guy who had such a dramatic rise, and has had whispers about steroid use, has something wrong with his heart? A young, healthy athlete with a heart ailment?
===============
Dramatic rise? He had been improving for two years when the Twins let him go.

As for the heart ailment
http://redsox.bostonherald.com/redSox/view.bg?articleid=155105

"Thompson and another cardiologist said they suspect Ortiz may have atrial fibrillation, which Celtics great Larry Bird has had for at least seven years. Atrial fibrillation can be treated with medication.

Dr. Frederick C. Basilico, medical consultant to the Celtics and chief of cardiology at New England Baptist Hospital, said too much caffeine or alcohol, aging, stress and overexertion can all cause an irregular heartbeat. The condition is very common in young athletes and many don’t even know unless it affects their performance, he said. "

One of the few things I admire about Jose Guillen is that when he was told of Ortiz's explanation, he called it bullshit.

On Papi and steroids: remember Ortiz's hilarious excuse for why so many Latino players seemed to be caught using PEDs? He claimed it was a language problem...they couldn't decipher the ingredients printed on the labels. I suppose there's a Spanish spelling of Nandrolone Phenylpropionate, Testosterone Decanoate or Stanozolol? Of course Ortiz is juicing.

Sry about the Meredith mistake. Because he's RH takes away some of my happiness b/c ive been under the assumption that he was a lefty and the red sox need a lefty.

This is the reason i try to never watch espn or any network for that matter (fox pregames and stuff) because they can mention just about anybody for being linked to steroids (even Roger clemens), but when tom brady comes up linked to steroids, he is nfl's golden boy just like Papi is baseball's golden boy and espn will never imply that he could be.

also, has anyone ever heard Papi being called the face of baseball. Derek Jeter is the face of baseball, as he would never throw bats at an umpire (even though they deserve it) the way Papi did and only got suspended 5 gms reduced to 3.

While I'm sure everyone wishes Papi well (maybe)...

Anyone else find it interesting that a guy who had such a dramatic rise, and has had whispers about steroid use, has something wrong with his heart? A young, healthy athlete with a heart ailment? When steroids are known to cause heart ailments? Hey, I'm not saying he IS on steroids (to quote ESPN when talking about Giambi and others) but it sho' is innerestin'.

>>cla meredith a good lefty on lefty reliever<<

Meredith is a righty. I see him pitch all the time down here in SD. He's the poor man's Jeff Nelson: his twisting little sidearm delivery eats up righties, just don't leave him out there for a lefty...
