No Love For Pavano

I think this story in the Times says it all:

Cashman sent Pavano to Tampa, Fla., where he will do no more than play catch on flat ground for two weeks. Taped to his locker at Yankee Stadium were the back pages of several New York newspapers mocking his latest injury, which Pavano did not report to the Yankees for 11 days.

“Stuff like this — hiding injuries — loses credibility and loses respect,” Cashman said. “Clearly, he has a mountain to climb to get back in the fold. That’s on him.”

Ladies and gentlemen, the players have spoken. To them, Pavano is a joke.

I wonder how ol’ Carl will do when the Yankees vote on post-season shares this year?

And now SI.com is reporting that he’s complaining of shoulder pain as well. Gee…I wonder if that was the result of altering your motion so your broken ribs would hurt less while pitching.

Pavano is like a combination of the characters from Oz - no brain, heart, or courage.

Ponson gets a larger share than Pavano.

One more Pavano column — a brutal takedown by Dan Graziano in the Star Ledger:

Pavano is rapidly moving to the top of my all-time most-hated Yankee list. The fact that he is suing his agent because his agent didn’t get him $50,000 more on his contract illustrates how screwed up this guy’s priorities are.

Pavano isn’t the first to hide an injury, nor will he be the last…

Sheesh, he pitches through injury, he catches heat. He doesn’t pitch through injury, he catches heat. What do people want?

    More from SI on Carl:

“Meanwhile, Pavano is reviled within the Yankees clubhouse, where players have come up with several derogatory nicknames, some off-color, suggesting he’s less than manly.”
