JeremyM, teams like the indians and other ones this year have made Kyle Snyder look like a star. LOL

Kyle Snyder with us would basically be Tim Redding or Darrell May or Donovan Osborne(Thank God those days are done).

Sox DFA'd Loretta today. They think it's over, too.

I'm kind of shocked by this move. I don't think they'll get much for him. But I guess they're committed to Pedoria being their second baseman next year. I'd rather see him than Loretta anyway, since Loretta used us as a punching bag this year.

Sox would need a huge September to make up for that August 'tho.

Steve ... all your analysis tells me is that the Yankees' season is far from over... memorable collapses are memorable because they occur in September. As the Sox melted in August, there but for the grace of the baseball gods do the Yankees go in September.

By the way, how bizarre and crazy was that "home run" off of Halladay last night? My jaw literally dropped when I saw it. Rios should have gotten on his knees and begged Halladay for forgiveness. And there's no way you should be charged with those runs if you're a pitcher (the outfielder literally THREW the ball into the stands).

Halladay looked like he wanted to kill Rios. He gives up a three-run jack in the first, battles back and his team ties it, and then a simple flyball gets tossed into the stands by his outfielder. Roy knows the season is over. At this point he's just trying to win the Cy Young. (I think it's going to Santana, though).

Were the 88 Yanks in 1st place? I remember them having a similar month back then.

I probably worry too much, but I won't feel totally comfortable until the magic number is at 0. Like nysupremacy says, teams really have been folding over and dying for Boston, which is why they were able to hang on as long as they did. I still remember the Yanks almost blowing a huge lead versus Boston and Toronto in 2000...
