• Sorry Boston, Blame Manny’s Bro’ & Not The Crow

The Red Sox misery seems to continue everyday now, doesn’t it? And, the vogue thing these days in RSN is to point towards a crow landing in Fenway on August 1st as the start of all things bad for Boston this year. I can see where this might make sense – since Boston went on to have the worst August ever for a first place team.

But, actually, there’s something else to consider here. Back in February of this year, the Red Sox signed Enrique Wilson signed to a minor league contract – basically just to keep Manny Ramirez happy this spring.

The Man-Ram hearts Enrique. As you may recall, back in the summer of 2004, Ramirez said:

“Enrique, man, you know, Enrique is my brother, man. You’re my brother, you’re my brother no matter what…..”

And, when the season started, the Red Sox kept Enrique Wilson down on their Triple-A farm team – until August 2, 2006 (when Wilson was released – and he subsequently retired).

Silly Red Sox – they had no idea what it’s like to mess with Enrique Wilson. As soon as Boston released him from his Triple-A bottle, bad things happened for them.

Sure, some can point to the crow – but, if you compare Wilson’s history to that of the crow’s, it’s no contest. Look at the Yankees and Cubs after they picked up Wilson. Can the crow keep up with that?

Bro’s before crows, Boston. It’s bro’s before crows. That’s what happened to you this season – and maybe beyond.
