OK, Guys, Win It For Beller!
From the Daily News this morning – with a hat tip to YanksBlog.com -
Helen Beller is truly a Yankees fan for the ages.
The great-great-grandma from Manhattan’s upper West Side has been rootin’ for the Bronx Bombers all her life, which began in 1903, the same year the Yanks were born as the Highlanders.
Last night she saw her first game at the stadium in more than a half-century – a treat provided by her grandson.
She got to meet her favorite player, Derek Jeter, and for a moment she seemed less like a 103-year-old woman and more like a starstruck young fan.
“You’re so goddamned handsome,” she blurted out to the All-Star shortstop, as they posed for a photo.
Jeter looked around for help, then simply replied, “Thank you.”
For a second pose, Beller put her arm around the grinning Jeter and whispered, “No one deserves to be that good looking.”
This is one of the differences between the organizations in New York and Boston. They Yankees have Jeter and Helen Beller whereas the Red Sox had Pedro Martinez and Nelson de la Rosa.
Seriously, who makes the better couple here?

The game isnt on the satellite or mlb.tv,
so can anyone tell me if the pitch to Jeter with 1st and 2nd and 2 out was a cheapo strike 3. Im updating on espn gamecast and mlb gameday and it showed the pitch at the top of the strike zone though it was probably too high. Thank you
And once again, we dont bother to show up against another loser more than once. At least Adam Loewen has some potential. Scott Baker has Zero potential, unless he goes to the red sox
absolutely amazing, we were in it all game and our guys couldnt get to two losers and now the game is over and the red sox loser starter keeps them in it, and they are closer than we are. All because Ron Villone falls behind hitters 2-0 every time and just like everyone else on our team, when he gets ahead 0-2 it just ends up in a hit easily, this time a game ending homerun
hmm, i wonder if the blue jays will bring in BJ Ryan to help solidify a victory for two innings like the loser O’s brought in Chris Ray. My answer: definitely not cuz it aint the yankees
Before i jump to conclusions and get angry at Ron Villone, i have a feeling that he probably got cheated as the Home plate umpire Jim Reynolds hails from the ever-hated state of massachusetts
The red sox lost, so maybe if the umpires dont decide to cheat us and end the game, we can make a miraculous comeback. If we were to, we would be as close to guaranteed of the playoffs as you can get. So just maybe we can, all we need are 3 more baserunners w/ the top of our order to get the tying run to the plate. If all four guys reach, Alex could send us to the playoffs w/ one swing & ive seen Joe Nathan struggle this year at times with command.
*wishful thinking about the whole idea*
oy!
conspiracy theories get a bit tiring after a while. Yanks lose on occasion… It happens
