Oh I agree about Jeter having a "weak side" to his fielding. It becomes more obvious the more games one watches of other teams with solid defensive shortstops. There's a real shortness in range on one side.

And AROD - well - his defensive yips seem to have faded (now that he has that new glove?) so I imagine he could still be a heck of a SS if he was back in that position.

Its amazing how good his numbers this year will probably end up considering he's having a "horrible" year. Everyone in baseball should be so lucky!

FWIW, I'm not sold that A-Rod can play SS anymore - heck, he can barely play 3B.

Hey, Jeter is the league MVP - he can play SS on any team he wants - and I'm glad he's here - all I meant was that he's still got that issue with balls hit to his left. The range that way was zero on that play today.

Lots of other SS come close to it - and the great gloves make the play. Again, it's just an observation/opinion in the name of remaining objective.

I'm just glad the second game showed we can scrape together a win and still rest some people.

I'm thinking we're splitting this series.

I'm also thinking, that the only shortstop I can think of who is as good a hitter as Jeter and yet a great fielder (as opposed to a solid one, which Jeter is) is the guy playing 3rd base next to him.

So if "world class" shortstop means he makes those plays but can't hit, I'll "settle" for Jeter.

One man's "ungrateful" is another man's "objective" - or, at the least, that's my position on your claim.

"I do believe that, if the Yankees had a "World-Class" fielding SS in the game today, it's a lot closer game this afternoon"

And if you had wings they'd call you a bird.

You're pretty ungrateful.
