18 Months Later
One and a half years ago today, the first entry to WasWatching.com was made.
On the very first full day of WasWatching.com, the site received 1,324 hits. Just the other day, the site had 25,262 hits in a day.
I’m taking that growth as a sign that people are interested in what’s being said here. But, today, I’m also trying something unique to get a handle on what people think about WasWatching.com – I’m lifting the registration requirement (for a day) on making comments.
Therefore, if there’s something that you want to say about this blog – or even if you just want to say “hello” (which would be great!) – all you need to do is type it and click it (today). Thanks in advance for your help with the request – and for your interest in this blog.

I had spent the last 20 minutes looking for the “sign-in” button. I refreshed your page about a gazillion times thinking there was a problem on my end.
Steve, you’ve done a great job….I know you wanted to move towards setting up a porn site but decided against it because of the “kids”, you did the next best thing by setting up a Yankee blog. You made the right choice.
LOL – for the record, I never said that I wanted to set up an adult content site!
Steve, while I don’t always agree with you (although I do 90% of the time), I visit your site 2-3 times daily because you have very well written and interesting posts. Thanks for all your hard work, it is definitely appreciated. As far as I’m concerned your blog and Pete Abraham’s blog are the two must visit sites every day. Thanks again.
Congrats on 18 months.
Congratulations on your anniversary! Even though I’ve never posted, I love the site and read it daily.
Has it been 18 months already? Keep up the good work!
We may not always agree on things, but I appreciate the work you put into developing and maintaining this site. Thanks!
I’ve got your site bookmarked in my Firefox toolbar, and it gives me immediate access to all your new posts.
What I really enjoy about this site:
* It’s easy on the eyes. Many bloggers underestimate the value of a clean site that’s not too dense (writing and otherwise).
* Nice dose of next-gen baseball stats, without feeling like I’m in Calculus class.
* Sensible commentary with the occasional rant mixed in.
* Excellent recollection of Yanks history and prior, relevant posts.
* Nice base of commenters.
Congrats on all the success. A few well-timed Patriots and Red Sux championships aided Bill Simmons at just the right time. Hope a Yanks World Series does the same for you at month No. 30.
Steve, great site and keep up the excellent work. Never commented before but I’ve always wanted to, your site is a must read everyday. period.
lurking for the past year, great site to read
Nice job SL: It’s amazing that someone who is quite intuitive and interesting on so many Yankees topics can be so wrong on Alex Rodriguez!
LOL Jason! Thanks to you and all the others so far. This is nice to hear – keep it all coming.
Paul, BTW, from your lips to…….fingers crossed! Besides, it would just be nice to get #27 over with by now.
My favorite part about your blog is that you often have black and white views on some very grey topics. It leads to good debate between the commenters. You also have a good sense of the topics that will get everyone talking. Case in point – people get on you about harping on ARod too much, yet your ARod posts consistently get the highest number of comments.
Lastly, I enjoy the frequency of your posts. I can check your site several times a day and there will always be something fresh to read. Keep up the good work!
The #1 source for Yankee news on the Internet. I read it every day…
This is the first website I go to each day. Been lurking for over a year now, each and every day. I enjoy your writing style and your insights. Keep up the great work!
great site, love the frequency of updates. keep ‘em coming!
Steve- keep up the great work. We don’t always see eye to eye on topics specifically on Arod this offseason but none the less its my favorite “yankee” website along with bronxbanter. You’re very professional and all of the people who post here are respectful. I enjoy your site and keep up the good work. A big thanks all the way from Venice, CA.
Muscle Beach!
cool!
Your work is much appreciated. Great site!
Steve – This blog is great. I found it by accident and it definitely satisfies my quest for all things Yankee and is SO much better than the Times/Post/News Yankee info. Thanks and keep up the good work
This is the first site I check every morning. I visit several times a day and appreciate that you update often. I’ve learned a lot about baseball from you and the other posters and hope you all keep it up! Thanks for having such a great blog.
It’s so cool to see some new names – thanks all!
PS – thanks to all the regular commenters – see, you guys have people that like to read what you say!
Happy anniversary and a half! This is a daily ‘must-see’ for me and a perfect compliment to the short list of outstanding Yankee fan sites. Your writing is very approachable, I learn something with each visit, and one can usually find a nugget or two here that you won’t find anywhere else. Keep up the great work, and keep a pot of coffee going on that stove, as I’m sure you’ll be having a lot of company this winter. Let’s go, Yanks!
