I was just reading this and Steve mentioned Sanchez has been in the DL 8 time since 2002. The guy was picked as a draft and followed because he had surgery on his arm while he was in H.S. The guy is just prone to injuries. He has good stuff but the guy is not reliable to last long.

from what I’ve read, Sanchez did have problems with his elbow early in his career, keeping him out for a while. But his 2nd prolonged DL stint was due to a freak accident – he slipped in the clubhouse shower and hurt his knee (2004 i believe). they were concerned about his elbow again before this year, but he did manage to throw 123 ip.

Guys, Sanchez has been on the disabled list eight times in the last 5 seasons. “Humberto” must be Spanish for “Glass Carl.”

The guy is brittle – not something you want in a youngster.

Didn’t MO have elbow tenderness this past season?

Zzzzz… prospects get injured… Zzzzz… never trust youth… Zzzzz… we need old veterans… Zzzz… no prospect has ever made it to the big-league level and helped his team win…

Ha, ha. Did a prospect kill your puppy or something?

(And what you left out of that article is that Sanchez’s DOCTOR said he would be fine without surgery.)

There was no structural damage…hense the reason to believe it would go away without surgery.

Remember, Wang had intense shoulder pain in 2005, and was put on the DL with the expectation he would need rotator cuff surgery. He came back THAT season with only therapy and not surgery and has been fine since.

Sometimes, rest is all you need.
