How close was the AL MVP voting that will be announced today? Throughout baseball yesterday an unsubstantiated rumor buzzed the landscape that Derek Jeter and Twins first baseman Justin Morneau had tied for the award.
However, nobody from MLB or the Baseball Writers Association of America confirmed the rumor.
Maybe the ESPN.com expert vote has people thinking this way?

I never remember MVP votes leaking before. If it’s true, it’s a terrible result. If Jeter was going to tie with a Twin, it should have been Santana and, if not Santana, Mauer.
Tying with Morneau is just absurd. This may have some anti-Yankee bias behind it.
Mourneau has won, 320-306. This guy wasn’t even the MVP of his team! I felt along that the voters would not reward two Yankees in consecutive years.
apparently Morneau won.

is this the first time the voters have gotten the MVP wrong in BOTH leagues?
Thanks for the links guys
I will have some commentary on this tonight
We was robbed.

It wouldn’t suprise me. However, Pujols vs Howard is a lot closer than Morneau vs. the rest of the AL.
I want to know who gave Jeter the 6th place vote. I can see the argument for 2nd, 3rd, or maybe 4th…but 6th???
^ it was one of the beat writers for the White Sox.
