Front three Wang’s had some shoulder problems, Moose & Pettitte elbow issues. If the Yanks can get a .500 record from the last two spots, then a +30 (96-66) from the front 3 and the bullpen should put the Yanks in a good spot. I’m always worried about pitching injuries.

      Steve,

You missed the most important option, the Harold McMillan option (and no, he wasn’t a guard for the Seattle Supersonics): “Events, dear boy, events”.

Think about it this way: could anyone have foreseen Lidle’s death last year?

If it had happened during the season, like Munson’s in 1979, wouldn’t it have completely flattened the team? (and no, I’m not saying that’s why the 1979 Yankees didn’t win the pennant. I’m saying that an event like this could derail any team).
