Where the music stinks,
and they water the drinks,
the nudie bar.
Where the girlies dance,
in their underpants,
the nudie bar.
Where you see their butt,
and their trap stays shut,
at the nudie bar.

So, I’m driving home from work tonight, listening to XM’s MLB Homeplate, and what do I hear? Some guys calling in to discuss rumors of a sighting of Alex Rodriguez hanging out, Saturday night, at some place called the Penthouse Club in Tampa.
Appropriately, the X-M show hosts, Rob Dibble and Kevin Kennedy, laughed off the story with lines like “Boys will be boys, and men will be men,” etc. – and they did not make a big deal of it.
If the media somehow decides to run with the story, which is always possible, it would be a shame. I would bet that more than half of the players, coaches, and managers of big league teams (out there today) – single and married – are going to gents-clubs like this (at some time or another). If you’re going to make a big deal out of it for A-Rod, then you better a big deal out of it for all the rest of “the boys” in MLB.
Hey, everyone knows that I’m not shy about calling on Alex when I think he has a shortcoming. But, this is not an issue that deserves to be discussed about on baseball-talk radio. Actually, shame on the X-M call screeners – if they knew what these callers wanted to bring up – for allowing this to get on the air.
Really, there is a line. And, this type of stuff crosses it.
