• Look, up in the sky! It's a bird! It's a plane! It's a frog!

    ...a frog?

Not bird, nor plane, nor even frog, it's just a little 'ole baseball blog!

The Palm Beach Post tells us more about a member of the Yankees staff who’s on the hook this season:

As a young baseball fan growing up in Buffalo, N.Y., Marty Miller idolized New York Yankees first baseman Don Mattingly.

Since February, the two have been on a first-name basis as friends and colleagues.

“I’m in charge of all on-field and off-field conditioning programs, like anything you see them doing on the field, anything that they’ve been doing in the weight room,” Miller, 34, a former high school baseball player, said of his role with the Yankees.

“But I also liaison at a much higher level with the sports medicine/athletic training/rehab (departments), where in the past, they used to just have a strength coach. It would be the strength guys on one side and the athletic trainers on one side. But with my background as an athletic trainer and my background in injury prevention, we work together on that.”

Miller, a long-time Yankees fan, couldn’t be happier about being part of it.

“It’s awesome, because you are in the mecca of sports,” Miller said. “Whatever you need, you get. They do things their way. We travel with more people. We spend more money. It’s anything we can do to be better.”

Always nice to see a Yankees fan living his dream. Now, he just better do a great job – if he wants to keep living that dream.
