Wright wasn't so hot in the 6th either. There were times where he'd be cruising and you'd think the pen could rest, and next thing you know he's losing the zone, walking guys, and giving up shots.

considering that 27 of his 95 pitches were thrown in the first, he threw 68 in his other 4.1 inning, which averaged up to about 14 pitches per inning, 14 pitches per is actually pretty low. at 15 pitches or so he would be averaging 7 inning or so is a example

The difference is that Igawa is new to the big leagues whereas Jaret Wright had a decade's worth of mediocrity for you to criticize. The loss last night wasn't on Igawa; he did fine. Farnsworth (I can't stand him) and the inability to get one more hit against Oakland's bullpen did us in.

The real tragedy is that Eric Duncan wasn't able to get his game in order to make this team last year. Now we're forced to carry three 1st basemen, two of whom can't field and one of whom hits worse than JV-level. Hell, carrying a 13th pitcher would be better than having Rico Bergman/Phelps/Giambi taking up space.

~~~Give Igawa a break, dude. He only gave up three hits~~~
Hey, I said he was so-so ....not terrible.
FWIW, yes, he was better than last time. But, he threw too many pitches in his 5+ innings. It was almost Jaret-Wright-ish. Hence, the so-so remark.
Give Igawa a break, dude. He only gave up three hits -- unfortunately for him, he made his worst pitch at the worst moment and gave up a big home run. His control was good (both walks were in the first inning) and he showed his ability to strike people out. He would have had a shutout going if Bobby didn't drop that flyball early in the game.
Minky is useless. He can hit AT ALL (can't even get a flyball) and he couldn't make the throw to end the game. I just think that was poor decision-making: even if it was the same result, better to set yourself and make that throw rather than throw it from your knees.
Having Minky, Phelps and Cairo on this team is redundant. One of these guys have to go.
The only thing about Minky is: who replaces him? You don't want Phelps playing first base, that's for sure.
Farnsworth once again had no control. He was demoted to the seventh last night; I imagine it will be to the sixth from here on out.
Bruney gets the loss, but Bruney is a stud in my book. He started messing around with the change too much in that second inning. Seems like that triple scared Posada a little, but Bruney should have just tried blowing Afro-redhead away.
I thought Igawa showed a lot of positive improvements today, only really one gopher away from a really good performance.
