I used to think that heaven was a place where there were no alarm clocks and bills only existed on the heads of waterfowl. I’m now starting to think that heaven is a place where the Yankees get to play the 2007 version of the Texas Rangers whenever they need a win.

Heck, even Rico Bergman looked muy suave tonight.

File this game under: “Firing on all cylinders.” It’s a pretty thing to watch.

I motion to change Rico Bergman’s name to Babe Mientkiewicz.

A friend of mine likes to refer to him as “World Beater” Doug Mientkiewicz.

I’m no stat-head, but he seems to hit much better at Yankee Stadium.

Jen–I agree. I believe all 3 of his “wow, did he just do that?” home runs were at home.

if he keeps hitting like this, it will no longer be like having a pitcher in the line up!

They showed a split last night. This is just off the top of my head but I think it was .352 at home and .159 on the road for Dougie. Also, 2 HR’s at the Stadium, 1 on the road.

I thought it was interesting that when he did his post-game interview he said that Joe Torre has showed a lot of confidence in him more than any other manager he’s ever had. I didn’t like the Rico signing and I so wanted him released from the team after the Yanks got whipped by the Sawx in the first game at the Stadium. But I love it when the players come out and publicly support Torre the way they do. Plus it pisses off the folks at NoMaas. I’d still rather see Phelps than Rico in there.

I loved how relax ARod looks too. The spit-out gum and slap it across the field was pretty cool.

Let’s get another great pitching performance, let’s get another win, let’s keep the good times going. Go Yanks!!!
