Via Peter Abraham.
In his last five games, Bobby Abreu is batting .308 (8 for 26). But, he has gone 8 games in a row without a walk. I think the last time Bobby did that was from July 24th to July 31st…in 2005.
This will either help Abreu relax – or make him press more. (Don’t forget, he’s playing for a contract too.)
From 2002 through 2007, Bobby Abreu has three PA batting in the 7th slot of the line-up. Clearly, he’s not used to batting this low. It will be interesting to see how he reacts to it.

No matter where he bats in the order, the objective is still the same; get on base and score.
I hope the contract he is playing for is with another team. This is simply not a $16 million
player. He no longer has any power ( no surmising here) and other than a decent throwing arm, he is a liability any time he has to move back toward a wall. He is a 5 to 7 slot hitter who is probably worth $10 to $12 million per. But since the crazy market will overpay him I would rather the Yanks look for a less expensive alternative next year
or at least keep their options open for a big player wo has not yet surfaced .
