My guess is that Torree knew there was a game and knew that the plan was to take Clippard out after an inning. He just didn’t pay too much attention to when the game was.

Tom Kelly would be on my list – along with Ron Hassey and Wally Backman and Girardi…perhaps Larry Bowa too.

Kelly is 10 years younger than Torre – and he’s been through the grind. But, I’m not sure he wants to leave the gig that he has now.

I think Torre has other things to worry about then the Triple A team.

Also, Steve leave the old Italian man alone, someday that will be me and you and then we’ll both understand what it’s like to be Joe. HAHA.

This is already being followed up by newer threads so our great pearls of wisdom might fall by the wayside but I’m still interested in who you would want to manage. You don’t need to take references into account since you can’t but I’m surprised you haven’t been pining away for someone for years.

Seriously though, I have this weird feeling that Joe isn’t well health-wise. Either that or his brother’s health is weighing on him too much.

Heck, at this point, let Roger Clemens manage the team. It will give him something to do on his off days.

I see a certain group of people each morning. If I run into one of them in the afternoon around town I instinctively say “good morning” from habit. I guess that makes me clueless.

I’m curious if you think you can do a better job managing (all phases) the Yankees than Torre or handling the baseball operations than Cashman. You don’t have to be better than them to criticize them but the tiniest little things you seem to jump on makes Torre more sympathetic to me.

Who do you want to manage the Yankees? Pick anyone still living and not currently managing a team.

The manager for you then is Showalter, Mr. Detail himself. Probably the only guy who would know what you think Joe Torre should’ve known.
