Nothing wrong with arods slide. It was going out of the baseline after the slide to throw an elbow that was the probem. Lowell was completely in the baseline when he tried to level cano.

Good post bailey. I think every Yankee fan was second guessing Proctor staying on for a second inning, but man, has a defense ever done more to ruin a single inning from a pitcher? Just awful. I was almost deliriously happy when the Yanks acquired Abreu and now I can barely stand to look at the guy. That misplay really started the flood.

Moose is killing me, and I’m a big fan, but it’s becoming ridiculously predictable. Yanks scratch out a lead, he gives it back. Sadly, he really should’ve signed with a National League team. He just doesn’t have enough stuff to make it through AL lineups on a consistent basis any longer.

And he needs to smarten up. Look at his first shot against Pena, he gets two quick strikes and instead of giving him some junk that Pena almost always flails at for strike 3, he gives him a fastball in the strike zone that Pena hits for a double and later scores the first run for the Sox.

Very minor point, but why is Vizcaino in during the 8th. Why not give Britton a shot, the game was already lost and since Vizcaino is apparently locked on to the team despite having an ERA well over 7, why not let someone else eat the inning?

You hang this loss on three people in my opinion: Torre, Mussina and Abreu.

(I say the following knowing Don will do a cyber curl of his lip and tell me that I’m a disgusting anti-Torre piece of garbage.) What exactly was Torre thinking in the seventh inning? He brings Proctor back for another inning, KNOWING that even if Proctor got a 1-2-3 inning, he would be guaranteed to face Youkilis. But he doesn’t have that 1-2-3 inning because of a HORRIBLE misplay by Abreu. So now you have Ortiz and Manny on and no outs, and Torre keeps Proctor in to face Youkilis, even though you know Proctor can’t come anywhere near him. He predictably walks Youkilis on four pitches — and yet Torre STILL stays with Proctor. It was simply insane. Why did Torre hang Proctor out to dry? With Bruney read to go? That inning totally blew up, but Torre did nothing.

I’ve been Mussina’s biggest defender on this site, but he was PITIFUL yesterday. You can’t allow the first two hitters on an inning to tee off on you after your team gets you the lead. It was totally embarrassing.

And Abreu. Dude, we understand you’re scared of “walls” — but this thing is three feet high. Do you fear you’ll trip over it? Have you ever seen anyone take a worse route to a ball that was hanging in the air so long? That misplay set up the entire seventh inning.

If you knew how annoying and exasperating my mother has been this weekend, you’d understand that that is the worst kind of punishment there is.

I would not put AROD’s name in there with others for that woeful 7th inning melt down.

Nope, not defending AROD, would have been nice to have someone on 3rd instead of the middle of the infield, but it would have also been nice if Cabrera had been able to catch the ball instead of run past it.

The miscues of the other 3 as stark as they are is enough to make anyone angry.
