Is anyone else in Yankeeland somewhat bothered over the fact that Randy Johnson is pitching well (again) this season?

He did have the worst year of his career last season. What has that – injury or Bronx-itis? I really wanted to see him twist this year. Go figure.

You wanted him out of here even if it was just on a buyout, why should you be bothered? You got what you wanted.

I didn’t mind the trade and I’m impressed how well the combination of surgery/change of location/whatever has worked out for him. I thought he was washed up.

If I knew that he was going to return to form, I never would have wanted him to go. I only wanted him gone because he sucked (here).

I don’t care if he became the next Nolan Ryan. He was a dick.

Or maybe the NL is just that much weaker — in which case I’m a bit concerned when Roger returns.

Doesn’t bother me at all. For one, he’s another league. And I never had the same hatred for him as I did for say, Kevin Brown. I always got the feeling that he did all he could to pitch well, but his injuries just wouldn’t let him. And once I heard that his brother died suddenly it’s probably better for him that he’s closer to home now.

      It was injury related…

      Anyway, his h/r ERA was 5.00 & 5.01 respectively. 2005, 3.13/4.64

He had one good year here, one bad year.

Except Steve, last year’s Randy would have been the #3 on the current team. He was a LAIM through and through.

But the return in the trade is what really kills me. It sucked in December and sucks worse now. The Dbacks really needed another starter and the Yanks got a crappy reliever, two crappy AAA arms, and a no-hit AAA SS.

Not they needed a 1B or bench help or anything.

How does the AL-to-Nl transition explain Andy’s return to form?

Andy’s a Yankee. He’s an AL pitcher. He was just on a 3 year family vacation in Houston. He had his fun. Now he’s back.

Couldn’t the same be said for Johnson? He won his ring in Arizona and his family’s concentrated there…

Personal happiness = greater motivation to succeed?

Maybe, maybe not, but I’d put more stock in Johnson’s successful back surgery & rehab as being his reason for bouncing back to form.
