We shouldn’t overreact to this first start positively or negatively.

The positive spin could be that he was doing this with only three warmup starts under his belt. The negative spin could be that it was against the Pirates, who can’t hit.

I was impressed that he’s still able to strike people out. His velocity didn’t bother me much because his fastball still has a lot of life on it.

I’d trade in Clemens for Hughes in a second, but considering what the alternative is at this point, Clemens is definitely an upgrade and should help the team.

I’m glad Melky proved his critics from last night wrong. Those two catches of the hits off of Bruney were awesome.
