      It’s funny – most times that Jeet squares up to bunt, I ask myself why he’s taking his productive bat out of the AB. But if other teams ever shifted on him, you could count on Jeet to pull EVERYTHING just to get them to play him straight up.

      This might be a stretch because Jeter can hit to all fields and does so based on the game situation (ie, how the pitchers is pitching him, runners on base etc.) I’ve got to believe if you play Jeter away from the 3rd base line, he’ll make you pay sooner or later. Comparing to Giambi his has become a 1 dimensional pull/power guy is like apples and oranges.

      BTW Steve – We haven’t seen any “the Yankees need to play XXX% and Boston needs to play XXX%” since the Yankees made their run to cut to now 8.5. You seemed pretty convinced the division wasn’t in play a few weeks ago – have you changed your mind?
