The Yankees lose a couple of games and it’s back to “the Yankees suck” and “they’ll be back under five hundred before you can blink your eyes.” This same team took two out of three IN FENWAY against the Sox. And if you put on ESPN nowadays the Red Sox are “the best team in baseball.” Francis is a good pitcher (and he’s a lefty, which of course hurts this team).

With Damon out, and playing in the NL, this lineup has a huge gap in it: Cano is not hitting, whatever eighth hitter we have (Cairo/Phillips) can’t hit, the pitcher can’t hit, and Melky is only an average hitter. That’s four straight easy outs for a pitcher.

Anyone who thought we were going to go into Coors Field and demolish an inferior team hasn’t been paying attention to the Rockies.

The Yankees got to play an inferior team. The Padres are #1 in the NL in RSAA, with a 30 RSAA edge over the Rockies. The Padres have a 29 RCAA edge over the Rockies (who have a negative team figure again–they’ve only had 2 positive figures in their whole history). And the 2 time defending division champions have a 4 1/2 game lead over the perienial last place contenders or inhabitants.

The deck was stacked in the Yankees favor. They are just squandering the gift.

This post is so perfect because it’s short, but it’s not because you don’t want to provide any thoughts or analysis on the game. It’s just that it’s so frustrating that it’s just better to not say much at all.
