Cashman Does Not Spare The Rods
From the AP -
While the Yankees were tanking on the field, general manager Brian Cashman had an additional headache – the tank top worn by Alex Rodriguez’s wife.
Cashman talked to both Alex and Cynthia Rodriguez about the shirt with foul language on the back she wore during New York’s 11-5 loss to Oakland on Sunday.
“I did speak to Cynthia, and she’s part of the family and obviously we just keep that in house,” Cashman said Monday. “I wouldn’t really comment any further than that.”
Asked if he talked to A-Rod about the issue as well, Cashman said yes. He also acknowledged that the team has a policy prohibiting profane language on clothing and banners in Yankee Stadium.
“Other than that it stays in house and within this family, and nobody else is invited in,” the GM said.
Rodriguez wouldn’t comment Monday before New York played the Minnesota Twins. Yankees manager Joe Torre also declined to comment.
He also acknowledged that the team has a policy prohibiting profane language on clothing and banners in Yankee Stadium.
Sounds like Cashman told Alex and Cynthia that such attire is a “no go” at the Stadium. Good for him. As much as I think he does a poor job on player acquistion, I have to give Cashman a gold star for jumping on this so quick and handling it well. Two thumbs up.

fcuk is a very popular brand and A LOT of younger girls wear it. if you’ve never seen it, ask paul laduca. I think this is rediculous.
Pete Abe said it wasn’t a FCUK shirt. So if that’s the case, then poor job on her part for wearing that to the stadium.
I’m pretty nutty, but I would never wear a shirt that has profanity out in public. Someone gave me a shirt of the little Yankee boy pissing on a Red Sox logo and I just wear that around the house.
I’m not as interested in where she wore the shirt to, but why would would she wear a shirt like that? It’s not like she’s Paris Hilton and has exhibited this kind of behavior before. That’s the fascinating part of the story, at least to me.
I could care less about who gets offended, if you aren’t offended by the people around you then you don’t live in a free society.
I would really like to know what possessed her, she has to know the backlash it would cause, right? She has to.

Back in May of 2005, Mrs. A-Rod was quoted as saying “It’s because of therapeutic intervention that [Alex has] been able to discover and flourish as a person.”
Maybe she needs some time with a good therapist now too?
Perhaps that was not just a “F*ck you” shirt – maybe it was a cry for help?
