how DARE anyobody compare him to jeter.
=============
They both play shortstop in NY. What makes you think they aren't going to be compared?

Corey - I'll be in the Loge by 1B.

Yes, I saw that on Reyes. I'll have something up on that in a minute.

Felt a little bad for Eddie Ramirez. He got the win, but he really wanted to show up the Angels, and he didn't pitch particularly well. The walk and later double are on him, but that Figgins hit seemed to be somewhat on Posada -- Ramirez had to shake him off to get one fastball, and Posada wanted changeup after changeup.

Proctor looked good and even Villone had an uneventful inning. Kenny reverse-jinxed us beautifully ("all these runs and no one's hit one out" -- and bang, A-Rod homers).

Andy's performance tonight was a concern -- because it's coming off an even more awful performance and because you would think a guy like Andy would be perfect to hold a big lead.

It's worrisome if Andy has taken a step back -- if he's not the guy he was in the first half, who we could depend on, then the pitching staff looks considerably worse. Mussina and Clemens MIGHT give you seven strong innings, but it might only be five. Igawa stinks -- he'll soon be replaced by Hughes. Wang is pretty much a constant, but even he has had some issues lately. If Pettitte reverts back to the guy from the first half of '06, then the pressure for Hughes to perform will be even bigger.

As some of you know, I'm one of Torre's biggest detractors. But he managed the hell out of this game tonight.
